In this workshop we will focus on movement/dancing. I will use a technique with which I’ve been working for years and show, how it can be used to find new insights with the hoop.We will do creative exercises and make pieces of choreography with a method, that can be useful later on, when training independently or performing. You will find new ways to move with the hoop and how to combine elements to create flowing movement. We also train to remember our own moves by writing scores.Henna is a Dancing Cards ™ instructor and will introduce you to this technique as well during the workshop.

Henna Matanuska – also known as MataHoops – is a unique and fascinating contemporary hoop dancer. Henna has studied theatre and dance in Finland, and when she discovered hoop dance in 2006, it changed her life! Since then the plastic circle has taken her around the world. Besides hooping she also performs with fire, stilts and as a contemporary dancer.
As a performer, Henna aims to provoke thoughts and introduce a new point of view to the field of hoop dance. The hoop is a versatile instrument: It can appear as sinister, beautiful, sensitive or powerful; it can become part of the dance and as a means for guiding movement.
Henna is also very passionate about teaching her style of hooping. She is open, creative and supportive teacher and have been teaching E.g. European Juggling Convention, Indian Juggling Convention, SWhoop, Hoop the Castle, Manchester Hoop Congress, London Hoop Festival and many others circus and hooping events around the Europe.
